Founded in 1898, the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) is the country's first established commercial bank and the largest player in the banking sector. NBE is the market leader in total assets with a market share of 25%, total loans and advances (21.3% market share), and customer deposits (27.5% market share). It has the largest network with 325 branches and outlets and more than 1,735 terminals, as well as the largest customer base with approximately 5 million customers.
